Claim This ProfileAs the Head and Chairman of Periodontics Department and an Ex-Dean at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Aleppo, I’m writing this letter of recommendation for Dr. Alaa YASSIN. I have had the pleasure of knowing Alaa since 1996 when I was the Head of the Periodontics Department, and we kept linked with Alaa in our alumni meetings and conferences where he serves as an Oral Surgery lecturer and an active member. Alaa graduated in the academic year 2000-2001, after a five academic years program, leading to DDS degree. I know Alaa as a hard working student, who has maintained good character and good relationships with his professors and colleagues, and was distinguished as a team working minded. Alaa is very ambitious and possesses the potential for personal, professional, and academic development. During his study time, he demonstrated a strong background in dental sciences, has successfully performed a large number of variant treatments when he spent the last two years of his study on clinical training and treating patients at the dental clinics of our Faculty according to the subscribed curriculum and under the supervision of staff members, and he was quite remarkable by his understanding and empathy for the patients he treated. Alaa has not confined himself to studying the University syllabus, but has always had many varied interest in cultural studies and activities in many other fields. He holds a good command in both written and verbal communication in English, along with a good administrative and technical knowledge and experience. As I had a chance to contact Alaa through the Syrian Society for Research and Preventive Dentistry, and the Syrian Society of Dental Implantology , where he was a very active member, he has proven to be intelligent, attentive, cooperative fellow with an inquiring mind, a mature insight, and the will and perseverance to follow up. He has shown a good commitment to the work with which he was involved, even in the times when he has been under extensive workload. After he got his degree in the Maxillofacial Surgery, his high interest in the field of implantology either by evidence based practice, or by participating and lecturing in many conferences and educational seminars, was striking. His passion for Implant Dentistry was reflected being the only ITI member in Syria, organizing study clubs and educational meetings. I feel confident that he will continue to succeed in his further studies, and will be capable of absorbing and utilizing the advanced knowledge he will learn through the program he is applying for to the maximum, developing himself rapidly through your academic concepts. It is for these reasons that I offer high recommendations for Alaa Yassin without reservation. His drive and abilities will truly be an asset to your Periodontology Program.
