Dr. Kirkland is a family man and grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. After receiving his degree from Clemson University, he completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1986. Upon graduating, he completed a postgraduate residency at the Westside Veterans Hospital in Chicago.
He returned to South Carolina and joined Charleston Family Dentistry in 1987. Dr. Kirkland became the owner in 1988 and welcomed Dr. Barrows aboard in 2020.
He is a member of the American Dental Association and the South Carolina Dental Association.
